It does not matter if you simply sell your work to friends, family members or have a huge online store. The bottom line is saving money. Buying in bulk is what often comes to mind when saving money, but that’s not always true. This is great for those of you in the hobby who simply make a few items for friends and family and don’t need a large supply taking up space at home effective way of treating pain.
First we will be buying our beads online. This is a no-brainer but it must be said. Between the selection, the number of companies competing for your dollars and the ability for you to quickly compare prices between those companies all points to the fact you need to do your buying online. If you type in the keywords “wholesale bead” and you will be swamped with results. A little daunting, I know. So, what do you do with all this information? You could weed through all the different companies and do some basic research to try to uncover the better companies to deal with, but this will take some time. I have a better idea.
Forums and Buying Groups
A great place to start gathering great information is from beading forums. At these forums you will have access to many very intelligent and active people in the craft. They will most likely direct you to the best places to start buying beads. Another resource that can be found on these forums are buying groups. These are people who pool their orders to get a large order discount. This is great for those of you who do not order a lot of material at once. Combine your order with others on the buying group and you can save some money. A good place to start is “beading daily” dot com. You will be amazed at the information you will find. Beading forums can be a wonderful source of information. So make a point to start reading several beading forums this week. Create an account (it’s usually free) and start participating in the conversations. You will be very glad you did.
Remember, some stores will only sell bulk discount to those who run a business. So be sure to make your intentions clear when asking on a beading forum or when dealing with a company. You will have to do some searching but do not give up. There is never just one place that will satisfy all your needs. Research and looking around will always in important. However, the deals are out there!
